The academic year started with calls from agents asking for some of our pupils to audition for a new version or Dr Dolittle, a spot on CBBC’s “The dog ate my homework and also to take part in The Young Presenter Competition. The children had a wonderful time, great experience with the professional companies. We also had a goodbye visit at the start of the term from some of our senior pupils as they prepared to start their Vocational training, Emily Roberts to Bird college, Mollie Foster to Urdang Academy, Stephen Mansey to Bath spa University to study Acting, Eronwy Selwyn to Guildford School of Acting, Terence Sharpe to study Actor Training for Theatre and Media performance at Worthing university and Jack Evans to East 15 School of Acting

We then started auditions, casting and rehearsals for our next full length Musical “Matilda”. A huge challenge in just 3 hours a week but the pupils worked extremely hard and made excellent progress.

At Christmas our pupils spent a month with “Evolution Pantomimes” performing in Cinderella, a fantastic opportunity and insight into the daily work of  professional performers

“Matilda” the musical took place in March with the pupils performing to sold out audiences. Every single pupil from the youngest to the oldest worked extremely hard on this production, they learnt many great skills and became much more confident along the way and most importantly they had lots and lots of fun.

The summer term had lots of highlights. Our annual "Search For A Star' Scholarship competition was amazing. We saw so many exceptionally talented performers with such great potential competing that it was a really tough decision to find a winner. Our scholarship winners this year were Libbie Butler and Summer Dorland. This was followed by a recording session where our pupils recorded and produced a CD, a fun costume making and drama session followed by rehearsals and 2  performances in “Dance, Sing, Shine” at The Octagon Theatre. The performances were magical and raised much needed funds for local and national charities.

Our year finished with the wonderful news that former pupil Kate Jordan on completing her year long contract with 42nd Street in The West End was given a contract for “Kiss me Kate” which toured the UK and ended it’s run in the West End. Former pupil Alex Jackson on completing his West End contract in the Bodyguard was given the opportunity to tour China and The USA.
